Title Left Avondale Fire-Rescue Holds Open House, Oct 10 Title Right

To mark Fire Prevention Week, Avondale Fire-Rescue welcomes the community into their "house," Fire Station 172, on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn valuable information that can keep you and your family safe from fire danger while enjoying free food, and fun for the entire family. Entertainment will be provided by Fireman Billy Scott, as he will sing songs about fire safety. Fire engines and equipment will be on display to engage children in discussions on the importance of fire prevention. Also, Fire Station 172 will be commemorating 10 years of service at this event. Join in the fun while learning valuable, life-saving information.

The focus of this year's Fire Prevention Week is on burn awareness and prevention. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has resources online to make certain that extra caution is in place when cooking, heating, and using electrical equipment at home. This information is available at http://www.firepreventionweek.org/. Educational information for you and your family will also be provided at the Open House on Oct 10.

Fire Prevention Week (Oct 4-10, 2009) is actively supported by fire departments across the country. For 86 years fire departments have observed Fire Prevention Week, making it the longest running public health and safety observance on record.
